Archiving qualitative data has begun
FSD either archives qualitative research data or provides information and description of the data its database. The archive processes archived data sets for reuse, deals with access applications and agreements on material use, and delivers the data in a variety of formats.

ELSST translation in progress
The multilingual ELSST thesaurus is being translated into Finnish as a part of the Madiera project. At the moment the thesaurus contains about 1500 keywords. Information officers Marja Oksa-Pallasvuo and Terttu Turunen are in charge of the translation.

Funding for international research programmes
For the year 2003, the Ministry of Education has allocated 100 000 Euros to FSD for international, comparative social science research. The money will be used to collect data for the following international research programmes:
- ISSP International Social Survey Program
- LIS Luxembourg Income Study
- CSES Comparative Study of Electoral Systems
