FSD2133 ISSP 2005: Work Orientations III: Finnish Data

The Finnish data of the International Social Survey Programme is now available in Finnish and English. It charts respondents' views on, for example, time use, preferable employees and importance of various factors in work. International data will be published in English in a year's time.

Two Seminars in Helsinki

FSD and its partners organised two expert seminars in Helsinki at the beginning of March. Some 30 participants assembled at the Multilingual Thesauri in Social Sciences seminar. Over 70 people took part in the seminar on information sources and information retrieval in research on Russia. The seminars were held on consecutive days.

Two members of FSD's staff gave an address at the seminars. Translator Taina Jääskeläinen gave a presentation titled ELSST - Meeting the Challenge of a Multilingual Thesaurus. More information in Taina Jääskeläinen's article. Information officer Helena Laaksonen presented data and services related to Russia studies available at FSD and other data archives.

User Statistics of Luxembourg Income Study

Finns are frequent users of Luxembourg Income Study (LIS). During the years 2002-2005, Finnish users sent 11 % of all the download requests.

The LIS database is an international collection of household income surveys. It provides comparative data on, e.g., income, expenditure and demographic information. Harmonization has been carried out in five waves of data collection.
