Data Documentation with Special Issues on Data Security

General Information

The CESSDA Expert Seminar 2000 will be held in Tampere, Finland on September 1-2. The main topics this year are DDI and its utilisation and data security. A more detailed invitation to the seminar as well as information on programme, registration, travels and accommodation are available on this web site.

The organisers, Finnish Social Science Data Archive FSD and Estonian Social Science Data Archive ESSDA, wish you warmly welcome to the seminar!

Thursday 31.8.	Arrival Get-together at FSD at 7 p.m.
Friday 1.9.	Seminars 9 a.m. - 4.30 p.m. Sauna and social program at 7 p.m.
Saturday 2.9.	Workshops 9 a.m. - 5.30 p.m. Dinner at 8 p.m.
Sunday 3.9.	Business meetings and social program according to participants' wishes

All seminars and workshops take place in FSD's premises, �kerlundinkatu 2 A.

Workshops

Workshops will meet on Saturday. Workshop I will deal with DDI related issues and Workshop II with data security and virus protection. Each participating archive is recommended to give a short presentation with a written summary of 1-2 pages on their current practices and plans.

Registration

Registration deadline is Monday, July 31. Fill in the on-line registration form or send us email stating

• your name and affiliation
• contact information
• which workshop you will attend to
• date of arrival and date of departure (for the hotel reservation)
• any other preferences (e.g. vegeterian food).

The letter of confirmation will be sent in the week 32.

Accommodation

FSD has made reservations in the Hotel Victoria that is located next to the railway station, a 5 minute walk from FSD. The price will be about FIM 500 per night for a single room. The participants will get detailed information about the hotel and the prices in the letter of confirmation.

Visitor Information

Participants are encouraged to book their flights to Tampere well in advance. Finnair flies daily to Helsinki and Stockholm and SAS operates daily one morning and one evening flight to Stockholm.
