Blog entry: Translation and International Use of Research data

FSD offers services to researchers and students also in English. We provide foreign language speakers data descriptions and the opportunity to access quantitative research data by translating them from Finnish into English.

Translating variables differs quite a lot from translating other types of texts. There is very little room for interpretation when survey questions are translated because when researchers draw conclusions on the translated variables, they need to have reliable and accurate representations of the original questions.

In their blog post, Research Officer Henri Ala-Lahti and Research Assistant Niko Koski share insight into translation work done at FSD.

The FSD blog discusses recent developments in social science research and data policy as well as FSD services and projects.
