Changes on Aila Data Service: FSD no longer produces new codebooks and dataset guides in PDF file format
Codebooks and dataset guides will not be produced in PDF file format for new datasets published on the Aila Data Service from May 2022 onwards. Previously published codebooks and dataset guides will be available on Aila and as part of the downloadable data package until further notice.
At present, all information included in the codebooks and dataset guides is also covered by the extensive study descriptions on Aila in HTML format. This includes information on the contents, structure, collection, and use of the data, as well as on the variables, questions, data collection documents, and related publications. When producing PDF codebooks and dataset guides was first adopted as part of FSD’s practices, information on variables and questions was not yet available in the data catalogue.
