Changes on Aila Data Service: new quantitative data files will be delivered to data users in SPSS SAV file format

In September 2022, FSD began to save quantitative data files in the SPSS SAV file format instead of the SPSS POR file format.

Quantitative data files have previously been delivered to data users in the SPSS Portable (.por) file format. Beginning in September 2022, all new quantitative data files are saved by FSD in the SPSS SAV file format. The data are also still delivered to users in the CSV file format. The downloadable data package includes an HTML file that contains all variable and value labels for the data, supplementing the CSV data file. Previously archived datasets still contain data files in the SPSS POR file format. These data files will be replaced with files in the SPSS SAV format in the future. The SPSS SAV file format is well suited for the purpose of analysing data, as the format has developed to be platform and operating system independent in recent years.
