Purpose of the system Information system for recording the different stages of data depositing, processing and dissemination, client register.

  • Name, address and contact information for clients and their communications with FSD.
  • Basic information for research data identified in journals and scientific publications.
  • Storage and package information for the archived research data and related information (files, their history and modification logs, version information, series information, terms and condition of data reuse).
  • Basic information on agreements (deposit agreements, access applications and terms and conditions of data use).
  • Use of the Research Methods Guidebook or Research Methods Web Resource (MOTV).
Sources of information
  • Deposit documents and research data itself.
  • Documents related to data reuse.
  • Clients' own notifications.
  • Negotiations with researchers (advice on the use of data and other information services).
  • Scholarly journals and scientific magazines.
Data protection of the system The Tiipii relational database is located on a network drive on FSD's internal server, which is only accessible by FSD staff using their user IDs and passwords.

Access to the information Contains both public and confidential information. Public information includes storage and package information for the archived research data and information determining their reuse (files and versions, series information, and terms and conditions of reuse). Information submitted by subscribers in their data access applications and client register information are not public and will not be given to third parties (see Privacy Policy in Appendix 2). Operational statistics extracted from the Tiipii database are published in FSD's annual report.
