General description

The figure portrays the total number of dataset downloads from Aila Data Service between the years 2017 and 2021. The total number consists of dataset downloads for the purposes of teaching, Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral theses, other research, seminar papers and other study purposes, and other purposes. Downloads of freely available datasets for which the purpose of use is unknown are also included in the total.

4,503 datasets were downloaded in 2021, compared to 2,598 datasets in 2020. Most growth was seen in the downloads of freely available datasets, which increased from 827 in 2020 to 1,851 in 2021. At the same time, dataset downloads for unspecified purposes of use decreased.

Dataset downloads have now increased two years in a row. Before that, the number of downloads had been slowly decreasing.
